Pathways Curriculum

Students must complete the Pathways Curriculum in order to receive a baccalaureate degree. The Pathways Curriculum has six curricular requirements, and three optional elements that provide the foundation in the liberal arts and sciences for all the bachelor’s degrees awarded by Trinity University. Through these requirements, students acquire the necessary skills and disciplinary perspectives to navigate complex questions at Trinity and in their post-graduate lives.
Intro and General Chemistry
Fundamental concepts in the structure, thermodynamics, and kinetics of chemical systems, with emphasis placed on quantitative problem-solving.
Organic Chemistry
Structures, properties, and reactions of carbon-based compounds, with an emphasis on mechanism and chemical synthesis.
Biochemistry
Structure and function of biological molecules, and an introduction to biochemical metabolism.
Analytical Chemistry
Quantitative chemical analysis, and the use of instrumentation to quantify and separate chemical compounds and to measure chemical properties.
Physical Chemistry
Fundamental principles of chemical thermodynamics and reaction kinetics, as well as quantum theory applied to chemical systems and spectroscopy.
Inorganic Chemistry
Structure and properties of transition metal-based compounds, with a focus on group theory, ligand field theory, and molecular orbital theory.
