Candidates for a baccalaureate degree must fulfill the requirements for a major as listed in the courses of study bulletin. The courses of study bulletin is the official source of information regarding degree requirements, academic policies, and academic majors and minors at Trinity University.

Pathways Curriculum

Students must complete the Pathways Curriculum in order to receive a baccalaureate degree. The Pathways Curriculum has six curricular requirements, and three optional elements that provide the foundation in the liberal arts and sciences for all the bachelor’s degrees awarded by Trinity University. Through these requirements, students acquire the necessary skills and disciplinary perspectives to navigate complex questions at Trinity and in their post-graduate lives.
Fundamentals of Computer Science
- Learn key concepts in computer science, as a foundation both for further coursework and for life-long learning (essential in a field that continues to evolve rapidly): programming and algorithmic thinking, computational complexity, and relevant mathematics.
- Become familiar with fundamental algorithms and computer science theory.
Programming
Learn fundamentals of computer programming and algorithmic thinking, with a focus on principles that prepare students to master a variety of programming languages both for later coursework and as life-long learners.
Theory
Become familiar with the theory behind programming, learning among other things why some problems may have no practical solution.
Game Development
- Learn about principles, tools, and methods for designing games.
- As part of a group, design and implement a two-dimensional game.
Artificial Intelligence
Learn about fundamental and state-of-the-art concepts in artificial intelligence: heuristic programming, approaches to problem-solving, game-playing techniques, theorem-proving procedures, knowledge representation, and examples of knowledge-based systems.
Web Applications
- Learn about sharing of information on the Web and full-stack development of Web applications.
- Become familiar with a standard platform for Web applications.
- As part of a group, design and develop a Web application.
